Happy Sunday,
In one of the former design journals - the December design journal, I shared a recipe for my beloved go-to almond cake. Original recipe is by Shauna Sever. I love it because it’s a cake that you can make in the blender - simple and delicious. I often double the recipe to make plenty to share with neighbors and friends. People absolutely adore this cake and are seem blown away by how good it is - I think because we don’t tend to come across almond flavoring often in the United States. I think it pairs perfectly with tea in the afternoon.
In late June I decided to play around with the cake a bit more and add a vanilla almond buttercream frosting because we were celebrating a friend’s sweet sixteenth birthday. That same week I got engaged, so I made the cake again the next weekend when I had friends over to the pool to celebrate. I called it ‘my engagement cake’. Both cakes were a hit.
So, as an extra-sweet, extra special Sunday post for paying subscribers, here’s both recipes:
the crunchy almond cake and
the up-leveled/ engagement almond cake.
